A scatter file is a plain text file that describes the partition table of a MediaTek device. It lists every partition, its starting address, size, and the name of the image file associated with that partition. When you load a scatter file into SP Flash Tool, the program reads this information and automatically maps each image file to the correct memory address on the device. Without the correct scatter file, SP Flash Tool cannot determine where to write the firmware images. Using a scatter file from a different device model will almost certainly corrupt the partition layout and result in a hard brick.
Incorrect preloader or USB driver issue. Fix: sp flash tool mt6765
If you are flashing the Entire ROM (Format All + Download), you generally keep all items checked. If you are just updating or fixing a brick, uncheck PRELOADER unless you are 100% sure the file is correct for your specific device variant. Flashing the wrong preloader can hard-brick the device instantly.
Choose Download Only for standard flashing or unbricking. Click the Download button at the top of the interface
This mode performs a system upgrade without erasing essential calibration data. It intelligently manages visible partitions and bootloader regions. It is suitable when moving to a newer firmware version that retains compatibility with existing user data.

The SP Flash Tool is a Windows-based utility developed by MediaTek. Unlike OTA updates or recovery mode flashing, this tool communicates directly with the chipset’s preloader and bootrom interfaces. For the MT6765, this means you can:
